Nothing overly complicated in this post. Looking for the octave note on the open G string of your four string bass guitar? The only reasonably easy place to find it is at the 12th Fret of your G-string.
One common way of playing octaves on bass is by playing both notes at the same time. Obviously, that's not possible here (although it can be done!). One cool thing you can do with this octave note on the 12th fret is to slide in to it or slide out of it as part of your playing. Why not give it a shot next time you're in the key of G, or simply playing behind a G chord. Make sure you don't lose beat when you do.
